Also called Mormon Lake Village, the main landmarks of this small town are Mormon Lake and Mormon Lake Lodge.
The lake, though it is frequently nearly empty during dry seasons, is the largest natural lake in Arizona. The lodge is a large cabin rental, vacation, and event spot which gives the settlement an economic boost through tourism.

The name of the lake commemorates Mormon settlers who arrived here in the 1870s and founded several dairy farms in the area, none of which exist any longer.
Mormon Lake Lodge was built in in 1924 in the heyday of ranching and logging in Northern Arizona. A fire completely destroyed the lodge on July 4, 1974, but local ranchers came together in a volunteer effort to rebuild the lodge. They accomplished their undertaking by Labor Day weekend the same year.
